Mamta never had an easy life. At the age of 7, she was diagnosed with thyroid and has been on medication ever since. Visiting the doctor every six months had now become a part of her life but she didn’t know that the worst was yet to come.
A few months back, she drastically started losing weight and got irritated with the urge to urinate quite frequently during the night. Her parents took her to the doctor to get her thyroid checked and it wasn't anything to worry but there was a hidden reasonfor her condition. The doctor asked to get her sugar levels checked just to be sure and the reports were shocking with sugar levels as high as 575. She was immediately admitted and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
Now she is back home but her ordeals are only increasing with age. At an early age of 13, she has to take 4 injections of insulin to keep her blood sugar levels under control or she might collapse if ignored. Her arms hurt and they have uncountable marks of injections. Her helpless father who works as a labourer in a footwear shop in Delhi single-handedly feeds his family of 5. With a low income of Rs. 8,000, he is struggling to afford her 4 injections a day. Their lives have become restricted to their home and they can't see any ray of hope.
However, the doctors say she may be treated with medication after she turns 18 but the chances are extremely low. Until then, her father is in hope of a miracle to be able to afford her medical expenses and save her life. With your contribution, a little girl who aspires to be a doctor can fulfill her dreams.
