WAR AGAINST HUNGER

On 19th July 2024, the team of Diya India Foundation visited a women’s shelter home in Kabir Basti, Malka Ganj. Our team had an opportunity to aid the women living in the shelter home with sugar, tea, phenyl, biscuits and soaps. Upon our visit, we were given a tour of the shelter. The shelter was divided into ground floor and first floor, the ground floor had two rooms with dormitories for women and a washroom attached for them. The first floor was designated for women with infants and had many rooms for them. We were also given a tour of mobile creche run by women of the shelter itself. The aim of the creche is to offer children with optimal nutrition and foundational education before the children officially begin school. The children of the creche are also provided with iron and vitamin tablets which can help and prevent them from many diseases. The young ones at the creche greeted all of us with a very big hug and they were very obedient. The coordinator of the shelter informed us that all the women come from underprivileged backgrounds. For the ones who experience any kind of psychological challenges, a psychiatrist is appointed for their counseling. We were received with big smiles and everyone was very happy that they would no longer have to miss their evening tea. Our initiative was ultimately very successful and brought smiles to many faces.
