The only health issue in the world from which every other person is suffering these days, but it is the least talked about.

Today mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population 46% of teenage and 13% of children each year.

You may never know who is or who isn't suffering from mental illness; it can be a member of your family, your neighbor, or it can be a colleague sitting next to you.

 

What exactly is a mental illness?

The world health organization (WHO) has defined mental illness as a health issue that is associated with changes in thoughts, emotions, behavior, and relationships with others that makes it difficult to cope up with ordinary demands of life.

 

Dozens of mental illnesses have been identified over the years. Some of them are depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, and many more.

 

Common signs and symptoms of mental illness are -:

 

  • Feeling low or down most of the times
  • Extreme mood swings
  • Withdrawing from friends, family, and activities
  • Low energy and sleeping issues
  • Not eating or eating a lot
  • Always angry or violent
  • Feeling paranoid, hearing voices or having hallucinations
  • Not feeling of doing anything
  • Often thinking about death or suicide

 

Mental health is a serious issue, and we need to take care of the people suffering from it by talking to them.

 

There are many in which we can keep ourselves and others mentally healthy some of them are listed below -:

 

  • Try to stay happy no whatever the situation is
  • Take time for rest
  • Surround yourself with people having positive vibes and energy
  • Sleep on time
  • Avoid using a lot of social media
  • Try doing those things which makes you happy and you enjoy doing them
  • Stay kind and be humble towards others.
