War Against Hunger

Ration Distribution (26 June 2018)

“There are people in the world so hungry, that god cannot appear to them except in the form of bread”- Mahatma Gandhi
In the population of 1.3 million, India is experiencing a tremendous increase in its GDP and per capita income, still, a large number of the population remains hungry for days. According to FAO estimate, approximately 190.7 million people are undernourished in India and most of them are children and women. Food is an everyday problem for such community who, despite working diligently, could not provide sufficient food to their families.
Diya India Foundation emerges as a glimmer of hope for such people which provides free ration as a step against hunger. The foundation has been distributing free ration every month since 4 years. It serves food and basic necessities to the underprivileged people of suburban and rural areas of Delhi.
On 26th June 2018, the amiable team of Diya India Foundation distributed free ration among deprived people of slums in NihalVihar. The ration included all the necessary items such as wheat, rice, dal, sugar and oil. The event took place in ChetanVidyaMandir, a school supported by Diya India Foundation where people came from 9 helpless families which do not get enough nutrition and proper diet. Our hearts were touched to provide such happiness to these people among which most were senior citizens and those who could not come, sent their children to receive the ration.
Having food is the right of every living being. Diya India Foundation, thus, will fight against hunger by providing the gift of food. The foundation will always take a step forward to help such underprivileged people grow.
